Research Interests

My primary interest is the biological effects of space weather on sleep, activity level, mood, and circadian rhythms.

My goal is to deepen our understanding of these effects.

An experience that convinced me of the importance of the research topic was my work experience as a bus driver at a preschool in Yokohama, Japan. One day in May 1996, I was waiting for the signal to turn green on a three-lane road. A man approached me, saying, "It's the thought that counts, right? Take it," and gave me fresh bananas. On the day, most of the children on the bus were agitated. Later, I found that it was the very day when severe space weather events occurred.
